This half term, children in Year 5 used technology to control an external device. They created and programmed a space rover using Lego WeDo. First, they built the rover and programmed it to move. Next, they added a robotic arm and programmed it to pick up an object. Finally, they added a tilt sensor and programmed it to send a message. Take a look at our space rovers and the work we did below…

This half term, the children in Year 5 have used Prezi to create presentations based around their history topic, The Anglo-Saxons. First, they looked at some examples and discussed what they liked/disliked about them. Then, they planned their own presentation by deciding what each frame would be about and what information they would include. Next, they created their own presentation; inserting text, images and hyperlinks into each frame. Finally, they evaluated their presentations, considering what went well and what they could change. Take a look at some of our work below...
Year Five had the pleasure of working with Gareth from Hi Impact to learn how to use output robotics with our new Lego Wedo2 kits. The children designed their robot following lego instructions online, then used Bluetooth to transfer code blocks in the Scratch program to make their robots change colour, move forwards/backwards and added sound effects.
Year Five wrote their own scripts and filmed RESPECT videos using green screen to share info on Anti Bullying Week 2018. |
