First we used the Bee-Bot iPad app to practice giving instructions by tapping the arrows on the screen. Then, we gave the real Bee-Bot instructions of how to get from one place to another. We explored instructing the Bee-Bot to go forwards, backwards, left and right by pressing a series of buttons in the correct order. We watched video clips about cyber-bullying and the effect it can have on people. We discussed the issue in our Year One classes. After this, we came up with some ideas that we could use as slogans to get the message across that any form of bullying is not acceptable. We then designed our own t-shirts with the different slogans on. For the majority of Year One, this was the first time using a laptop - which was very exciting! First we looked at turning a laptop on and off. Then we learnt how to use a mouse as it is very different to tapping the screen on our iPad's/tablets. We sang along to the 'Funny Tummy song' which helped us understand that we may get a funny feeling in our tummy if we see something we don't like whilst using technology, and if we do we must tell a trusted adult straight away. We also discussed how to identify an adult that we can trust: someone you can talk to about anything without feeling worried. We recorded 5 trusted adults that we feel we can go to on a 'Help Hand'. Finally we helped the e-safety fairy by suggesting top tips on how to stay safe when using technology. These included:
